Happy Friday glamour babes! Quick question. Have you ever heard of J.D. Glow Cosmetics? Don’t feel bad, Neither have I, until a few months back as I was taking a daily scroll through my Instagram feed. The company peaked my curiosity and I ordered a few of their liquid lipsticks to try on for size. J.D Glow Cosmetics was created by two best friends back in 2015-Jennifer and Deandra in Baton Rouge Louisiana. Their cosmetic brand caters to Ladies and Gents of all ages as well as all ethnicities. They aim to create high end quality cosmetics at low prices.” I don’t know about low prices, considering that they charge $15 dollars a piece for their liquid lipsticks. I found that kind of misleading. I was lucky enough to snag three of them during a sale, but there are new and upcoming cruelty free/indie makeup brand companies such as Colourpop that sell their liquid lipsticks ($6) for the fraction of the cost. Just sayin.
J.D. Glow’s Liquid Lipsticks are indeed beautiful. The bold, colorful shades of Fiya Red, Rouge, and Crazen caught my eye, even though I was mostly enamored by the gorgeous packaging. Do I really have to explain the packaging? The photograph speaks volumes, lol. Fiya Red is a vibrant red orange.Rouge is a red with blue undertone.Crazen is a warm fuchsia red.The formula of these liquid lipsticks have hit and misses. They are lightweight, go on smoothly and evenly, have a creamy, mousse like texture, are highly pigmented, do not streak, are comfortable to wear, and set in a matte finish. However, they do not have long lasting wear, aren’t transfer proof, and the sweet chemically scent is a little off putting. I have been wearing these for months now, which is why it has taken me awhile to review J.D. Glow’s Liquid Lipsticks. I wanted to give them a chance. I thought I may have been applying these incorrectly, but let’s face it, the best way to apply a liquid lipstick is on bare, dry, clean, exfoliated lips. A norm in my liquid lipstick routine. Every time I would eat or take a sip of something, I felt the color slipping off of my lips as it then started to feather and bleed, creating uneven, patchy lips. I got about an hour wear before having to remove the color off my lips entirely. It was a very unflattering look. If not eating or drinking, the color will stay on nicely-approximately 6 hours.
I am not exactly loving these, so they will be put to the side once I know what to do with them. For now, I’ll just admire the opulent casings that are fit for a queen.
Stay beautiful! Xo.
