Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Review:

You’ll never believe what I spotted and purchased at Marshall’s this time glamour babes. Go on, take a guess…..Give up? Okay, I’ll bite. It’s Kat Von D’s Lock it Concealer!!!!

This bad girl normally costs $25 for 0.58 Fl Oz. at Sephora and KVD Beauty, and I got it for $4.99. How crazy is the price difference?! I saved $20! Sorry for the unattractive pic. The high end cosmetics are now located at checkout, so you know how that goes. Ain’t no body got time for makeup junkies holdin up the line, lol.

There were only two shades available-Deep 38 and Medium 26. I bought Medium 26, also known as original tan. I am aware that I am no where near a medium shade on the concealer charts, but I didn’t care. I have plenty of fair toned foundations and BB Creams to mix my new medium with.

To my surprise, the concealer is not as dark as how the tube portrays it to be. It is actually more of a light medium (neutral with yellow undertone) than a full on medium shade, and I really like it.

The water resistant liquid formula is smooth, creamy, lightweight, comfortable to wear, easy to apply, blendable, buildable, does not oxidize or clog pores, suitable for normal, oily, combo skin types, and sets in a beautiful matte finish.

*Shake well before use.

I felt that the coverage was more medium than full. Kat Von D’s Lock It Concealer camouflaged everything but the redness I had from a few blemishes. I had to go the extra step and lightly bake on some of Wet n Wilds Photo Finish Pressed Powder to hide my additional flaws. It’s a favorite of mine. The powder is lightweight, not to mention affordable, and doesn’t produce a cakey looking veil once everything is said and done. My skin looked impeccably flawless afterwards

If you have oily or oily/combination skin. Don’t fret. Skin stays matte throughout the day. During the course of a 10 hour work shift, there was barely any oil peeking through my t-zone. What’s another word for incredible? Wonderful, fantastic, awesome, great. Yea, this concealer are all of those adjectives in a nutshell.

I gotta get my hands on another one. Let’s hope I can find it for the same price again.

Have you tried KVD Beauty’s Lock It Concealer?

What are your thoughts?

Stay beautiful! Xo.

Jeffree Star Lip Ammunition Review:

I can’t begin to tell you how much I’m disliking Jeffree Star’s Lip Ammunition glamour babes. For an $18 lipstick I was expecting better quality from your brand Mr.Star.

I recently ran out of Jeffree Star’s Velour Liquid Lipstick ($18) in Unicorn blood, and thought to go the traditional lipstick route since the Velour version was sold out on the Jeffree Star website. Not exactly the wisest choice on my part. I should’ve just waited patiently for the restock. Shipping it here took close to 2 weeks! I live in NY, his company is located in California. Really? I think I’ll stick with Beautylish from now on. Plus, they send confirmations and tracking notifications, which was something I did not receive with JS either. Oh well, you live and learn.

Unicorn Blood (Lip Ammunition) is a dark rusty red with a satin finish. The shade itself compliments all skin tones. FYI: L.A. Girl Makes a shade pretty similar, almost identical to Unicorn Blood. Check out their Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in Secret ($6.00). It’s a good dupe in the Matte sense if you ask me.

I did not find the lipstick case to appear cheap or flimsy looking like some reviewers have mentioned. The lipstick comes housed in a plastic hot pink bullet casing with the Jeffree Star logo in the center and stars wrapping around the bottom. I found the lipstick tube to be a rather cute design and it is actually quite sturdy.
My main issue was the formulation. It’s very streaky, heavy/slippery feeling, not comfortable to wear, and did not go on smoothly or evenly. I had to apply multiple coats (3-4) in order to create a pigmented lip, and still felt like the shade was off. It’s nowhere near as deep as the liquid lipstick. My lips feathered and bled out like crazy after application. The lipstick also has a grainy texture. I never had this experience with a lip product before. It does however, hydrate lips nicely and smells of vanilla, but that’s as good as it gets. Eating was a mess. The color got everywhere (hands and face), as if I actually did murder a unicorn. I did not like this one bit. I love unicorns! It was removed immediately.

I have a few Colourpop lip liners that should go perfectly with Unicorn Blood. Maybe I can incorporate Jeffree Star’s Lip Ammunition as a topper? Give those lips a bit of depth and sheen. What do you think? I can’t let this lipstick go to waste!

Sharing is caring!

Thesis Beauty Berry Boost Strawberry Dessert Face Mask Review:

I absolutely LOVE summer glamour babes. The hot summer days, strolls along the beach, taking small trips, making memories, messy tousled hair, not having a care in the world, but my skin says otherwise. The summer heat causes me to break out like crazy! White heads and pimples galore! My face was starting to feel like a braille novel at one point due to all of the whiteheads. And if I really wanted to, I could’ve played connect the dots with the tiny clusters of pimples that were forming on a regular basis.

Thankfully, Thesis Beauty Berry Boost Strawberry Dessert Face Mask ($22.95 for 3.25oz) has been a real skin treat these past few weeks. Summer just got a little sweeter and clearer with this pink powered clay mask. My acne is healing up quite nicely, and so is the braille. Lol.

I adore everything about this clay mask. It’s fun and easy to use, and you actually see results instantly. I take a spoonful (1-2 teaspoons) of the lightweight powdered clay and mix it with filtered water.

I apply the mask twice a week and let it sit between 15-25 minutes during each application until I can feel it getting tighter. Once set, I rinse it off with warm water, pat dry, then apply my moisturizer. Ta-da! Skin looks good enough to eat (healthy, soft, and supple) but don’t do that. That’s considered cannibalism in most countries. Lol. You can use other liquids (soy milk, citrus juice, herbal teas, yogurt, honey, etc….) of your choice and customize the consistency (I like my mask on the runnier side), that’s what makes the whole process fun, and it smells yummy! Like strawberry shortcake. You can warm up liquids too. This will supposedly make the mask even more effective and absorb into the skin better. I haven’t tried this method yet, but I am intrigued to do so on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The beauty about Thesis Beauty Strawberry Dessert Facial Mask is that it is super gentle, and does not suck all of the hydration out of your skin as to where it feels uncomfortably tight or a tingly burning sensation occurs afterwards, creating more trouble (breakouts) for problematic skin. Clay masks are known to extract out impurities. This is why I was always apprehensive of them. Thank you Thesis for changing my outlook. Also, before I forget. Strawberries act as a great mild exfoliator, which helps slough away dead skin cells to brighten the complexion and clear acne. Such a wonderful hybrid species, the strawberry. No wonder it’s a favorite of mine!

Thesis Beauty Berry Boost Strawberry Dessert Face Mask is available at ThesisBeauty, Amazon, and NaturalsCove.

Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm Review:

Why do all of the cosmetics I come to love get discontinued glamour babes, why?!

I had a good thing going with Too Faced Cosmetics Tinted Beauty Balm. From the shade (Vanilla Glow) to the formulation. It was a perfect match for my oily/fair complexion. I mean seriously Too Faced. If it ain’t broke, why discontinue it?

I purchased the Too Faced Beauty Balm at my local T.J. Maxx for $12 (orig.$34), not thinking for a second that this product could possibly become discontinued. I thought more along the lines of a reformulation. A lot of makeup companies are known to do such a thing, and rightfully so.

As we all know, when beauty bargain hunting at these kinds of discount department stores, its a rarity to typically find your shade of choice. Normally, I tend to find shades for medium to deep skin tones, never fair. That being said, I swooped in and snatched Vanilla Glow before anybody else could. As the seagulls saying goes in Finding Nemo-it was mine, mine, mine!

Vanilla Glow is a fair shade with a golden undertone.
The undetectable broad spectrum (SPF 20) formula provides sheer to medium coverage. It has a lightweight, creamy, balmy texture. It’s comfortable to wear, easy to apply, easy to blend, non greasy, does not oxidize, hydrating, long lasting, pore-minimizing, and sets in a luminous/matte finish. A little Beauty Balm goes a long way too. I would start off with a pea size amount on my oval brush and would work from there if I felt my skin needed more coverage. This Tinted Beauty Balm is suitable for all skin types, especially oily/acne prone. I’m telling you, I could wear this all day long and sleep in it if I wanted to. I would not get one breakout or any visible clogged pores. My skin looked flawless, fresh and radiant all day long. It melts right into the skin, masking slight imperfections, which created a soft, dewy photo finish effect. Can you see what I am talking about?! That photo of me to the right though. My complexion is on fleek! Now, because this is a sheer to medium coverage BB Cream, it doesn’t fully cancel out redness. After I apply the Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm, I let it set for a moment, and then go back in with a small concealer brush and full coverage concealer (Flower Beauty Hollywood Concealer kit has been my world lately) to camouflage the few red blemishes that I have on my face. You can use a blending sponge or brush to cover wider areas if need be. Just a fun little tip to throw out there when using any BB cream.

Too Faced your Tinted Beauty Balm was pure magic and I wish you never discontinued it. Hopefully, you’ll come across this review as well as others to see what big fans we are of the product. Please bring this one back! It’s amazing.

As I mourn the loss of an excellent BB Cream. What would you boys and gals consider I try next?

Do share your cruelty free/vegan friendly favorites!
